Our festival is named after Tailtiu, the Fir Bolg foster mother of Lugh. Her name means The Great One of the Earth: a personification of the Land itself. Tailtiu is the original Goddess of the harvest, her spirit remaining in the last sheaf of grain. Tailtiu was the last Irish Queen of her kind: a feminine energy that felt the longing of humanity. Her spirit lives on at Greyhaven, as it has ever since our first festival in Her honor. Let us give due recognition this Lughnasadh to Taitiu, for without her, an abundant harvest, both materially and in our spirits, would not be realized!
The theme this year is sacrifice. In addition to the sacrifice made by Tailtiu, we will be honoring the land wights sacrificed so that man could have civilization. We hope you enjoy our event!
